I'd planned ahead and packed myself a snack bag, cooler, and non-perishable meals because the thought of eating fast food for 6 meals in a row was nauseating. I munched away on granola, bananas, dried fruit, fresh fruit, and tuna fish with crackers in addition to the continental breakfast from my mid-way hotel stop. I was more than ready for a hot, home-cooked meal!
Over the weekend I caught up on all of my blog reading! I feel back in the loop now! :)
Biz's first of the month give-away is going on here!
And, I totally forgot to update everybody on my brother's "Goode" job status! He did not make the Top 50, along with several other favorites. Apparently there was a huge backlash (you can read some here, here, and here) that the votes didn't count and eligible candidates were overlooked. Murphy-Goode achieved about $7M in free advertising in exchange for the $60K winning job banking on the fact that people would blog, twitter, Facebook, email, etc. about the contest. They released statements on their website and Facebook apologizing for the misunderstanding and admitting that their intention was never to be a "contest" because it's illegal in California to have contests for alcohol and tobacco related products. In other words - they just wanted to use social media for free advertising because they knew we'd all want to support the candidates and re-post about it to their benefit. In the end I guess it's pretty good he's not working for a company like that!
That stinks about the Murphy-Good contest!! I think you are right, who needs to work for a company like that?
ReplyDeleteThe stuffed roast looks great, I've never tried to make that before!
Glad you are back!
That roast looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your brother will find the right job somewhere else!
Ack, sorry abt your brother's job, but good thing he isn't working for such companies! There will be better ones out there for him!
